Grants for iGEM Teams

We strongly believe that local iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) teams play a crucial role not only in the future of this site, but also in the future of synthetic biology. That is why we are passionately committed to supporting these teams and establishing new ones.

Our goal is to nurture talented researchers and early career scientists in synthetic biology. Therefore, we work to form partnerships with students, universities, local companies and experts to provide resources and mentoring to dedicated local iGEM teams.

We place a special focus on fostering the innovation and creativity of emerging researchers to enable breakthrough projects and support them on this exciting journey.

What is iGEM?

The iGEM (International Genetically Engineered Machine) Competition (https://igem.org/) is a global synthetic biology competition in which students from universities and research institutions worldwide develop innovative solutions in areas such as medicine, environmental protection, food production and energy. Using standardized biological building blocks and tools such as DNA sequencing and bioinformatics, teams modify or design biological systems to enable useful functions and develop innovative solutions. Teams have the chance to showcase their skills in an interdisciplinary environment and present their projects at the annual iGEM conference.
